- Avoid Negativity – While there can always be negativity in life, the situations or people you know that negatively affect you regularly should be avoided. Toxic people and situations can be detrimental to your sobriety and potentially lead to relapse. So if they can be avoided, then it would be best to just stay away.
- Breathing Exercises – A long used technique for anger has been breathing exercises. Simply, take some deep breaths to calm yourself down. And while doing so, see if you can begin to understand the other person’s point of view. This does not necessarily mean you have to force yourself to agree, but see if you can find a part of their viewpoint that you do understand.
